Coyote Gets Its Prey

Today's image was taken about a year ago in Yosemite National Park. I was with my friend Charlie, when we witnessed this coyote hunting in the snow. To my surprise I saw the Coyote pounce on a small field mouse. I reacted quick, and I was able to capture this image. What amazed me more about this image was how sharp and in focus the coyote is considering that I was hand holding my 1D Mark IV with a 300, 2.8 lens and 2X converter attached to it, which can get quite heavy. I didn't have time to get a tripod or monopod ready.

Yah Nick this is outstanding!! Awesome shot here and I can identify with your "didn't have timne" syndrome :-) I have that all the time! This is absolutely beautiful with sharp sharp sharp shot of Mr Wile E. Coyote and the beautiful blue shade background and that grass and snow..Just a stellar shot - congrats for sure...I hope Horsetail was a success!!

@Denny Jump Photo: Hi Denny. thank you for your kind words. Horsetail was not a success. I decided not to photograph it due to lack of water. Since December, there has been very little snowfall in California (especially in the Sierras), which has lead to very little snowfall in Yosemite. However, not all was lost. I was able to leave Yosemite with a few nice images.

Wow that's too bad, Nick...I was thinking that there had been a fair amount of snow this winter for the Sierras...hopefully next time around will be better:-) Nice to hear from you - p s - I have been so swamped the past several months, I have only had a few chances to give Don and Gary and Scott a few "howdies."
